III.) PARAGRAPH WRITING :
Discuss the answers to the following questions in pairs or groups of four. Individually note down the important points for each question, and then develop the points into one paragraph answers.
1.) Men in Workers’ Paradise say “God! We haven’t a moment to spare” (para 6)
The man says, “I haven’t a moment to spare for work” (para 11)
Keeping in mind the above statements, contrast the attitude of the men in the paradise with that of the man (artist).
Answer: The men in the paradise had a lot of work to do. They were happy about their work and didn’t feel burden about it. They worked all the time and didn’t have even moment to do something that was other than work. On the other hand, the artist was a lover and devotee of the art. He spent his time thinking about beautiful art and how to put them on the things. Though he didn’t do much of thing, but his thoughts were always full of artistic things. He mind is so engrossed with the thoughts of the art that he doesn’t have time to work. The men in paradise found pleasure in working all the time whereas the artist found pleasure in thinking about art and bringing to the live world.
2.) There are two worlds in the story: the world of the idler–artist and the world of the inhabitants of the Workers’ Paradise. Which world is better? Why?
Answer: The two worlds in the story are completely opposite to each other. In the workers’ paradise, people work all the time and they don’t have a moment to spare. They find pleasure only in working. They don’t really give importance to the art or entertainment. On the other hand, the world of the idler is filled with fantasy and art. Here the artists spend their time only in imagining things. Here importance is given on the beautiful things. It is not important that whether the thing is useful or not, here only art and beauty is appreciated. Both the worlds are extreme in nature and cannot be perfect. A combination of both the art and the practical work can be something to be worth of. If both the work comes together the world would be a better place.
