I.) Which of the words below describe Gerrard and which describe the Intruder?

Write a paragraph each about Gerrard and the Intruder to show what qualities they have.

Answer: Gerrard is one of the main characters of the play. He works in a theatre. He is a smart man. He tries to fool by making himself as a criminal. This shows that he was clever. He is quite smart in a way that he makes the intruder believe that the police are chasing him to catch him. He snatches the gun from the intruder and locks him in the cupboard by which he saved his life.

The intruder is a murdered in the play. He has already killed a person and now running from the police. He is cool and confident because he knows that he won’t be hanged twice since he has killed a person already. He tries to kill Gerrard but at the end of the play gets arrested.

 

 II.) Convert the play into a story (150–200 words). Your story should be as exciting and as witty as the play. Provide a suitable title to it.

Answer: Smart Trick

Gerrard was packing his bag. But then came an intruder without any clear intention. The intruder had a revolver with him. Gerrard didn’t lose his calm. The intruder threatened to kill him if he tried to show any smartness. The intruder revealed that he had killed a policeman and the police were chasing him. He also told him that he wanted to have a clean image by killing Gerrard and take his identity and live life freely. This made Gerrard create his own imagination. He told him that he too was a criminal. He played the trick with the intruder by telling him that by killing him, he would be accused of double murder. After that Gerrard very smartly told the intruder that his friend was standing nearby. Gerrard took the intruder to the door to show his friend. When they went near the cupboard, Gerrard pushed the intruder in the cupboard and locked him in. The intruder asked him to open and let him out, but Gerrard as smart he was, didn’t listen to him and called the police. Gerrard got him arrested.
