1.) Who was Surya Singh? Who did he meet on his way?
Answer –Surya Singh was the prince of Manipur.
He met a weak and tired looking man on his way.
2.) How did Surya Singh help the traveller?
Answer –Surya Singh offered the traveler to ride on his horse and he would walk beside.
3.) Where did the two men go to settle the dispute?
Answer –The two men went to Birbal to settle the dispute.
4.) How did Birbal settle the dispute?
Answer –Birbal told Surya Singh and the man that they should leave the horse and the next day he would return them. After they were gone he instructed his servant to follow them with the horse and free the horse to see which one follows. Next day he called them both and told them to identify the horse among other identical horses.

Answer –The speaker of the poem is the poet himself.
2.) What are the changes that occur in the poet’s shadow?
Answer –The poet’s shadow sometimes grows in size at once like a rubber ball and sometimes it gets small and so small that there is no one at all.
3.) What does the speaker think of his shadow in Stanza 3?
Answer –In stanza 3 the poet thinks his shadow is a coward, that’s why his shadow always sticks to him.
4.) What did the speaker find one morning before the sun was up?
Answer –One morning before the sun was up the speaker found that there is few on every little wild plants.But couldn’t find his shadow. He thought that his lazy shadow stayed at home.
5.) Why is the shadow funny?
Answer –The shadow is funny because sometimes at once it grows tall like a bouncing rubber ball and sometimes it shrinks so small that it is not there at all. The shadow always sticks to the poet and follows him everywhere.

My shadow always stays with me. Wherever I go it goes with me, it does whatever I do. When I play it plays with me, when I jump it jumps, when I sit it sits with me. My shadow sometimes grows very big in size and sometimes it shrinks. I see my shadow whenever I come out to light but I dart my shadow disappears.
