Q2) Fill in the blanks :-

a) Constants and Formula are two types of data in Excel.

b) Excel immediately recognizes any subsequent data as a formula when it begins with an equal to sign (=)

c) A unique address in worksheet is also called cell reference

d) A group of cells in a worksheet is called range.

f) A formula helps you to calculate and analyze in your worksheet.

g) Autofill feature will quickly copy formula across rows or columns

h) Functions allows you to perform calculations without typing long complex formula.

Q3) Write ‘T’ for True and ‘F’ for False statements :-

a) Formulas are in-built in Excel. F

b) A formula always begins with a plus (+) sign. F

c) Operators specify the type of calculation, you want to perform. T

d) >= is a reference operator F

e) Functions are predefined formula. T

Q4) Answer the following questions :-

a) Solution:

In Excel, Constants and Formula are two different types of data present, which are
explained as

i) Constants :- Constant values are the values those/that are directly entered into the cells in the worksheet. Constant values are Numbers, names, data, currency etc.

ii) Formula :- Formula is a mathematical calculation of cell reference, in which the
operators or mathematical functions to the current value to gain/finding the new value. We can work on all kinds of data by calculating in Excel data. Ex :- You can add
the contents of a column of monthly sales figures to calculate the total sales.

b) Solution:

Define the following

i) Cell reference :- In a Excel worksheet, each cell is bee identified/recognized by an unique address that is called as cell reference. In Excel, cells are by default identified by column letter and row number. If cell A5 is active i.e means the active cell is in column A and 5th row. While entering formula in the worksheet, the cell reference is taken into consideration/use instead of making use of actual data. For ex Formula =A1 + B1 instead of = 10 + 20. When you use cell references and you change a number used in a formula, Excel will automatically redo the calculation for you.

ii) Cell range :- Cell range is the group of cells in the worksheet. By upper left corner and lower right corner, there are both anchors which helps us to identify the cell ranges. The range refence includes the both anchors which are been separated by the colon. For ex:- the range name A1:B3 which means /includes the cells as A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, and B3. Range name always starts with a letter that can be in uppercase or lowercase letter and cannot add a space between the range names.

c) Solution:

Operators are always present in the formula, which helps us to identify/clear that what type of calculation is it. Following are the types of operators which are :-

i) Arithmetic operator :- This operators are used to perform mathematical operations like calculations.

ii) Comparison operators :- These operators are used to make the comparison between two values. Comparison operators returns the value of True or False.

d) Solution:

Function is a pre-defined formula in Excel which is used to work /perform
calculations on the data that is entered in your worksheet. This formula performs the
operations of calculations on the values that are in series. In worksheet you can work with mathematical calculations by making use of 300 functions which is provided by Excel. Some of the commonly used functions are SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, MIN etc. In Excel, every function has a name such as to sum the data is called SUM, for averaging values AVERAGE function is used where as for finding minimum or maximum values from the series of data we make use of MIN and MAX functions. There are 11 categories of functions that are grouped in Excel which are Cube, Date and Time, Engineering, Financial, Information, Logical, Lookup & Reference, Mathematical & Trigonometric, Statistical, Text, Database.

e) Solution:

To perform common calculations in a worksheet, Lets take an example of
calculating the sum of a list of numbers. The steps are :-

i) Click on the cell below or to the right of the cells containing numbers you want to
include in the calculation.

ii) Now click on the Home tab.

iii) To display the list of common calculations, click on the down arrow button of Auto
sum.

iv) Click on the calculation that you want to perform.

v) In such example we have selected the SUM function.

vi) A moving outline appears the adjacent cells that Excel will include in the
calculation.

vii) If Excel outlines the wrong cells, you can select the cells that contain numbers you
want to include in the calculation.

viii) The cell you selected in step 1 displays the function that Excel will use to perform
calculation.

ix) Press Enter key to perform the calculation.

x) You will see the result f calculation in the cell that you have selected in step 1.
