The mechanism of the respiration takes place in the human being is as follows –
The air is taken in or inhaled with the help of nostrils or nasal cavity into the body. The fine hairs present in the nostrils dirt-free the air when it passes through the nostrils. Nostril passage also has mucus lining in it which also helps in the cleaning of air and prevents dirt to go inside. After the air passes from the nostrils it is moved to the throat. Rings of the cartilages present in the throat make sure that the air- passageway does not screw up. Then the air passes to the lungs, from lungs to bronchi, bronchioles and lastly to the alveolar sac.
