Answer:- The environmental importance of forest is as follows:-

(iv) Forest prevent soil erosion.
(v) Forest purify the air.
(vi) Forests are ideal places for adventurous, tourism activities.
(vii) Forest are useful in reducing air pollution.
(3) What are the reasons for forest destruction?
Answer:- (i) The reasons for forest destruction are follow as:-
(i) Man’s unsatisfied desire to procure land is the main reason responsible for the destruction of forest.
(ii) Due to increasing population, policy of establishing industrial unit responsible for forests are destroyed.
(iii) Forests are destroyed also due to construction of roads, jhoom cultivation, to get timber and fuel wood, forest fire etc.
(4) What are the effect of forest destruction?
Answer:- The effect of forest destruction are include decrease in rainfall, drought, global warming, green house effects, advancing deserts, shelterlessness of wild animals etc.
(5) “Tropical forests are also called evergreen forests” – Give reasons.
Answer:- (i) “Tropical forests are also called Evergreen forests” – Because tree of tropical forests are evergreen.
(ii) Also there is no season of autumn in the tropical forest.

(i) It is a responsibility of every citizen to protect our environment.
(ii) Cutting of trees should be stopped. Strict action should be taken by government against these.
(iii) Survey should be taken for awareness about important of forest.

(v) Take precaution to avoid forest fire, and in case of fire it must be quench immediately.
