5) Explain the different views in Nautilus and how to switch between them.
Ans:
The different views in the Nautilus are as follows:-
(i) List view: This view is very similar to the compact view as this view the objects are represented by very small pictures showing the names of the objects in a vertical manner/list. This view also shows the various contents of the objects like its size, type and date of the latest modification done to the objects. The objects can be arranged in ascending or descending order of any displayed object by clicking once or twice on the column head. It helps the user to search for latest or largest files.
(ii) Icon view: In this view, the items/ objects are shown as icons as per its name and type. The icons shows small preview of the contents of the object/items for many objects/items. In this view the icons are displayed in a grid view.
(iii) Compact view: In this view the objects/items displayed by very small pictures (icons) with no preview and displaying the names in the vertical list.
6) Explain the cut, copy paste operations?
Ans:
Cut and Paste operation: The cut-paste operations means to cut/remove the original file/object from its original place and paste in the other place in which you wish to place it. In other words it can be termed as moving of file/object from one place to the other one. Any software/program may cut the object and hold it on the clip board, and does not remove the original object from its original place until the paste operation is performed. If in case the user performs the cut operation and without performing the paste operation, then the cut operation is automatically cancelled/will be of no use and you may find the object init original place. The cut-paste operation can be performed once only. If in case an operation of cutting an object from its original place performed and the same cutted object is been place/kept in the same place/location, then the cut paste operation will be of no use. In Nautilus, the object or more objects that is selected can be cut by selecting the cut option from the context menu or by using the shortcut key combination as CTRL+X, whereas the pasting operations can be performed by selecting the paste option from the context menu or by pressing CTRL+V.
Copy and Paste operations: The copy-paste means without disturbing/removing the original object from the original location and placing it in the new location. In other words it is termed as making the duplication of the selected objects and placing them in the new desired location. You can perform copy paste operations many times. The objects which are been copied from the original place is been holed on the clip board without effecting the original one and been removed from the In Nautilus, the object or more objects that is selected can be copied by selecting the copy option from the context menu or by using the shortcut key combination as CTRL+C, whereas the pasting operations can be performed by selecting the paste option from the context menu or by pressing CTRL+V.
7) Explain the checking of spelling in gedit.
Ans:
It has in built dictionaries for some use full languages. Check spelling means it checks the spelling of every word from beginning in a document. For every founded spelling error in a document similar spellings are been suggested. Some times if a user inputs the correct spelling of the word, then too it shows a spelling error because the word may not be in the built in dictionary. In such cases, we can ignore that word or add it in to the user dictionary to avoid such time of error problems in future. The user may even correct the miss spelt word with the suggested list of words.
8) Describe the image viewing features of Eye of GNOME.
Ans:
The Eye of GNOME is also known as Image Viewer which is used to view any image or picture files. In Nautilus browser, the image viewer is automatically opened as the user double-clicks on the image or picture files. Image viewer is not shown in the Application menu automatically, but if we wish/allow it then it’ll appear in the menu. The software also provides common options in the menu as:-
(a) Previous: This will help the user to move/view to previous image or picture file.
(b) Next: By clicking on this option, the user will move/view to next image or picture file.
(c) Zoom in/ Zoom out: This option will help the user to enlarge or shrink the picture or image file.
(d) Rotate left and Rotate Left: It is used to rotate the image/picture file clock wise and counter clock wise in 90 o. It’s only useful in viewing the picture/photographs which are taken using camera, mobile phone in landscape or portrait images.
10) Explain horizontal flipping of an image with the help of a figure.
Ans:
The above images shows the horizontal flipping of images which means a vertical line passes through the centre of the image of the two halves to the mirror side. It also shows the series of images in which the first image is in its original form while sub sequent images are obtained by flipping the previous image horizontally. The horizontal flipping would rotate the image with a degree of 180 around the vertical axis/line passing through the middle of the image.

Ans:

Ans:
The Ellipse tool is used to draw a perfect Circle in GIMP. From the Ellipse tool, just select Ellipse along with Shift or with the help of pencil tool you click anywhere in the image, the tiny circle appears where its size can be reset. Is drawn with fore ground colour.
16) Describe the working of the Free Selection tool.
Ans:
The free selection tool allows the user to select the area of arbitrary shape.
Click on any point anywhere on the shape which you want to select. Move the mouse by clicking/holding the mouse button as if your drawing with it. If a part of the shape is a straight line, release the mouse button. You have to close the shape by going again back to the start point before leaving the mouse button because all selections must be closed shapes. Polygon is an arbitrary shape and can be drawn by using free selection tool.
17) What is cropping? How is it done?
Ans:
The process of removing/extracting some parts from the image is known to be as cropping. With the help of the crop tool, Cropping of an image is been done. Following is the process of cropping an image:-
(i) Firstly we have to click on crop too and select the option.
(ii) Once you are done with the selection, now just drag and drop to draw a rectangle shape on the image.
(iii) The rectangle shape indicates the image is been cropped to that rectangle. The outer portion of the rectangle is been removed from the image..
