Godmen A Threat to Indian Society Essay : India being a secular state and land of various religions, caste and creed, people follow some or the other religion like Hinduism, Muslim, Sikh, Christianity, Jews, etc. There are huge number of temples, mosque, churches, gurudwaras and other places of worship in our India. Along with these places of worship we find priests, gurus and other persons of religious faith who preach or teach such religious teachings.

Most of the people specially from remote villages consider these persons who preach and teach religious beliefs, praise and worship these so-called Godmen of the society. Large sections of the society consider these Godmen having special powers to heal and perform various other contributions in the society. Several others consider these Godmen to have special powers to predict their future and hence go to these Godmen with hefty sums of money just to know their future predictions.

Godmen pose a big threat to the Indian society as these Godmen setup Ashrams with a view of providing meditation and other spiritual healing activities. However, these Godmen use the emotions and sentiments of the persons joining these Ashrams and thereby making them vulnerable all sorts of evil activities like drug abuse, human trafficking, sexual harassment, murders, etc.

Most of these Godmen are connected with several politicians, thus are being provided with luxurious cars, huge villas, and other luxuries for the benefit of getting votes to their political parties during elections. A lot of black money is also floated as donations to these Ashrams and other so called spiritual healing centers. This again makes it a serious threat to the Indian economy and the society.

However, not all Godmen are into such evil activities. There exist several other Godmen who have proved to be very good to the society, by providing spiritual healing and introducing Yoga, which proves to be very effective healing for person suffering from various sicknesses.

The good Godmen have setup Ashrams and other spiritual centers, thereby providing free food, shelter, clothing and other basic necessities to the poor class of the society. They also provide free spiritual education, helping persons who are addicted to drugs or alcohol to get rid of these bad habits.

Special groups should be formed to check the integrity of these Ashrams and other spiritual healing centers, so that no such illegal or evil activities are carried out. Government should keep checks on politicians who are involved in illegal and evil activities in connection with the Godmen.
