Objectives: The objectives of sustainable development are listed as follows:

Measures to practice sustainable development: In order to adopt and practice sustainable development few measures shall be taken. These are:
Technology– Using eco-friendly, locally suitable, culturally adaptable technologies should be used. Technologies that are indigenous in nature should be used. The technologies should produce minimum waste and minimum resources. Local manpower and resources can be used.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle– Reducing, reusing and recycling of resources will not leave any detrimental effect on the environment. It also reduces the pressures on using resources. This will triumph in achieving the goals of sustainable development.
Creating environmental awareness and education: Environmental education shall be introduced as a subject right from the school level. This will help to change the outlook towards environment. Environment awareness campaigns shall be organized to educate the masses about eco friendly use of resources and to make the earth a green planet.
Using resources according to needs: The capacity to endure the stress and to regenerate should taken into consideration while using the resources. If the use of resources surpasses our needs, the environment around us will deteriorate. Consumption shall not surpass regeneration and changes shall not take place beyond the enduring capacity.
Improving the social, economic and cultural dimensions of life: The cultural heritage, the tribal people and their culture shall be conserved. Community participation among all sections of people shall be encouraged. Population growth shall be brought under control by adopting suitable measures. By this sustainability can be achieved.
Importance of Sustainable Development: Sustainable development educate us to use our resources efficiently. It corroborates that the need of the present shall be met without having to affect the needs of the future generations. Sustainable development encourages crop rotation and use of other eco-friendly fertilizers and seeding methods. This will prevent soil erosion pollution. It promotes the use of greenhouse fuels and reduces the use of fossils fuels. This will prevent changes in the climate. Sustainable development ensures that resources should be allocated to everyone according to their needs. It helps in conserving and sustaining our biodiversity. It also encourages the use of renewable source of energy such as wind energy, solar energy in place of fossil fuels. It encourages afforestation in place of a tree or plant that has been felled. This helps in preventing soil erosion and will help in getting a cleaner and a greener future. It is also crucial to preserve every drop of water and make judicious use of water. For this, installation of jet spray, head showers, hand showers are important to ensure that there is no wastage of water.
