Social justice Essay: Social justice refers to the adjusted relations between society and individuals without any social discrimination. In other words, it means that each individual is dealt with on fairgrounds without any segregation based on caste, creed, religion, nationality, gender and economic status. In the Preamble of the Consitution, it is stated that social justice is clarified as political, social, legal and economic. In addition, the Preamble is safeguarded by the clauses of the Fundamental Rights and the Directive Principles Of the State Policy. Social justice removes the impediments of property inequalities, wages and wealth. A potent blend of economic and social justice is also known as distributive justice.
Discussion
In the Indian Constitution, Article 15 forbids discrimination on the grounds of caste, creed, place of birth and religion. Moreover, Article 16 (4) promotes the concept of equal opportunity and the resolution of appointments for any disadvantaged class. In the present day, social justice has become a matter of debate as it affects the lives of people. Social justice enables an individual to express their rights and voice their freedoms.
When social justice is promoted by the government it ensures that every individual irrespective of caste creed religion and race has the right to access healthcare, education and employment opportunities. The term social justice is not only a goal but a whole process as it allows for the equal participation of people promoted by tolerance and cooperation. Furthermore, social justice allows people to voice their opinions and share their personal opinions based on the practices, policies and social norms. Article 38 of the Indian Constitution states about the promotion of the social welfare of the people. Furthermore, Article 23 &24 of the Indian Constitution offers fundamental rights against exploitation of the people against any hazards.
Various campaigns related to social justice were launched comprising the Black Lives Matter, MeToo Movement, Nirbhaya Movement and Farmer’s protests. The Black Lives Matter Movement started in the United States of America and was triggered in the event of George Floyd’s death, a black man who was mauled to death by two white police officers. Moreover, the #MeToo movement was founded to create awareness about sexual violence which is faced by the people. It helped in bringing sexual harassment issues into the limelight. The terrible gang rape in Delhi called for a mass protest in favour of social justice. People gathered in groups to demand justice for victims. In addition, the farmer’s protest in India was initiated against the three farm laws introduced by the government. The three laws were against the Minimum Selling Price and the Agriculture Market produce due to which the farmers got agitated and held a protest march.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be said that social justice promotes the equality of women irrespective of caste, creed, sex, religion, place of birth and nationality. The constitution of India asserts social justice for all people and the provisions of Articles 38, Article 23 &24, and Article 16 (4) substantiate this fact. The launching of the social justice movements such as the hashtag Mee Too Movement, Black Lives Matter and the like has brought social injustices to the limelight and helped in renouncing social injustices from society.
