Essay on Last Day at School

Essay – Last Day at School

School is a place from where we gain our formal education. It is regarded as the second home for students. The school not only provides us education but even gives us the gift of good friends and the guidance of goods teachers.

My last day at school was the day I still cherish. I studied at happy child high school. The last day of my school was when my selection test got over for standard X, before my matriculation. The day was not a similar day at school. The filling of not being able to go to school anymore was very heart breaking for me. The school had given me bag full of good memories and lots of new things to learn. I had my last history exam on that day. We went school and moved to our morning assembly we were greeted by our respected principal who with a heavy heart gave a speech for us. The words gave me Goosebumps. Class 9 students also performed a beautiful song for us. Many of our friends along with me were made to seek a few words about our journey. We could feel the atmosphere. Our dear teachers had tears in our eyes.

We finally proceeded to our exam rooms. The room was filled with silence. Our teacher gave us the question paper and the answer sheet. I completed my hour in the given time. After all our classmates finished their exams, we all wrote our memories on each other’s school shirt. It was really fun and saddening at the same time. The shirt got full with messages from each other. We finally went to our teachers to take their final blessings. The teachers bid us farewell with a heavy heart. I decided to meet our respected Principal Mam. She even shared her valuable memories of us. It was really nice to hear about our mischief when we were small. She gave us of a note and a pen. The note had her valuable words for our future life; it really meant a lot for us.

The teachers advised us to go through the school and see the classrooms which had given us the education and good memories we were happy with the classrooms once we sat and studied were now the classroom of other children. It provided a strange peace to my mind and heart. I could recall the desk i liked to sit. It was reminding me of the old days.

Then we finally decided to go out. I went to the watchman uncle who was there from the 1st day of my school. His eyes were full of tears. None of us could stop our tears. It was day full of memories. We stood out the school premises. There was lot to gossip and talk but there was silence amongst us. One of our favourite teacher came out to give small treat. We finally went to the school canteen and had snacks. The food satisfied my heart more than my hunger. I could recall the old memories of me munching in the canteen along with the friends. The last day of the school was not as long as the regular day in time, but it was like a whole decade i spent there amidst everyone. I am still grateful to the school for making me what i am.
