Introduction: “Incredible India” and “Make in India” are both government campaigns launched by the Indian Government for the economic benefit of the country. ‘Incredible India’ was unleashed in the year 2002 with a view to promote tourism in India. This campaign was globally conducted by showing India as an amazing tourist destination. As India has a myriad culture, traditions and a wide diversity from Kashmir in the north to Kanyakumari in the South.‘Make in India’ was started by Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 with a view to encourage companies to produce, manufacture, develop and innovate products in India itself. By this, job creation was generated for 25 economic sectors in thecountry. Standards of high quality are maintained and the environmental impact of goods manufacturing were minimized.
Incredible India (a brief overview): Tourism has always been a source of income for many countries. As India is a land of diversities, with an extravagant heritage and a mosaic of cultures, the country count as one of the most popular tourist destinations of the world. India is the 7th largest country in the world, separated by the mountains and the sea. This gives India a definite geographical entity.India is a potent blend of old and new- starting from the heritage buildings to the luxurious shopping malls and gigantic hotels. Taking that as a concern, the government of India in 2002 started as campaign ‘Incredible India’ to encourage tourism in India. Actress Priyanka Chopra and the colossal actor Amitabh Bachchan were the ambassadors of this campaign to promote Incredible India. The destinations that popularized this campaign are Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi etc. In terms of the expenditure data, it is noted that the foreign tourists spend US$372 million in the year 2005 (fourth quarter – October to December). India as become the rapid growing market in terms of international tourist expenditure in the Asia- Pacific zone.
Make in India(a brief overview): Prime Minister Narendra Modi unleashed the Make in India campaign in 2014. He said that all 121-crore people of India will take part in this program and make India economically Independent. The objective of this mission was to create job opportunities for the unemployed and skill boosting. This initiative captivated capital investment only in India. Owing to this, 49% FDI and 100% in the infrastructure of railway was allowed by the Indian cabinet. Make In India mission concentrated on the 25 economic sectors. These sectors are defence manufacturing, automobile components, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, railways, highway, textile, garments, media, mining, oil and gas, entertainment, tourism, thermal power, hospitality, electronic system and others. “Zero defect, zero effect” was the slogan raised by our PM during this campaign. This implies that India uses advanced technologies and mechanism to initiate the production causing no environmental hazards. At present Haryana, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha showed high signs of improvement by this campaign. As for instance, Lockheed Martin announced to manufacture F-16 in India. Dalian Wanda Group announced to construct industrial city. Micromax has three manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan. Aramco signed a deal with India to set up oil refinery of $44 billion.
Conclusion: To conclude, we can say that Incredible India and Make in India are the campaigns with similar aims i.e., to bring about economic development in India. Their aim is to make India economically self sufficient so that it stands out separate among all the other nations of the world. By these campaigns, unemployment could be eradicated to some extent. Many got employed in the tourism industry and others in the industries that were set by the influence of Make in India. India, in future can make significant progress if the government comes up with more such campaigns.
