Amritsar Essay: Amritsar is located in the state of Punjab in India. It is positioned at a distance of 28 kilometres from the Pakistan border. It also holds a record as a populous city. The original name of Punjab was Ramdaspur which was located in the Majha region of the Punjab province. In other words, the city is also known as Guru Nagri It is was of the pristine cities where one can get the fortune of hearing the humming of the guru-vaani from the gurudwaras. Amritsar is renowned for its Golden Temple popularly as the Harmandir Sahib gurudwara. It is located at the end of a causeway surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar Lake where the pilgrims dip in for a holy bath.

The city is also an important landmark in terms of its cultural heritage and integrity. The Gobindgarh Fort is also a significant landmark whose main purpose was to defend Shri Harmandir Sahib and Amritsar from the invaders. It was proclaimed the historical monument under the Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites Remains Act in 1964.
