Equilibrium constant Formula
Equilibrium constant of a chemical reaction is the value of the reaction quotient when the reaction has reached the equilibrium.
- The value of equilibrium constant is independent of the analytical concentration of the reactant product species in a mixture .
- Equilibrium constant is depends on temperature and ionic strength.
Equilibrium law:
So,
Equilibrium constant Formula :
Kc = equilibrium constant
- If kcis large (>1 ) then creation of products is favoured at equilibrium and reaction moves in forward direction.
- If Kc is small (<1) then creation of products is favoured and reaction proceed in backward direction.
