Division Tricks

Division Tricks

In division method we see two different numbers. The number on the right side of division symbol and the left side of the symbol is another number.

The number which is divide is called dividend and the number by which is divide is called divisor. The answer is called quotient.

12÷ 4 = 3. In this 12 is dividend, 4 is divide, and 3 is the answer

Let’s examine this using an illustration now: –

1)   42÷6=7 Here we have to just see 42 is there in the table of 6.

It is 6×7=42

So, answer is 7.

2)   72÷8=9 In this we have to find 72 is there in the table of 8?

Yes, it is. 8 × 9=72

So, answer is 9.

3)   64÷8=8 We have to see 64 is there in the table of 8

It is 8 × 8= 64.

So, answer is 8.

4)   81÷9=9 Here 81 is there in the table of 9

9 × 9=81

So, answer is 9.

This is so easy.

Now some bigger number but easy one for division.

For example: –

5)   36663399 ÷ 3=12221133

36663399 the all numbers in this figure is in the table of 3 that is

3÷3=1, 6÷3=1, 6÷3=2, 6÷3=2, 3÷3=2, 3÷3=1, 9÷3=1, 9÷3=3

So, answer is 12221133.

6)   66996369÷ 3=22332123

66996369 the all numbers in this figure is in the table of 3 that is

6÷3=2, 6÷3=2, 9÷3=3, 9÷3=3, 6÷3=2, 3÷3=1, 6÷3=2, 3÷3=1

So, answer is 22332123.

7)   28846282÷ 2= 14423141

28846282the all numbers in this figure is in the table of 2 that is

2÷2=1, 8÷2=4, 8÷2=4, 4÷2=2, 6÷2=3, 2÷2=1, 8÷2=4, 2÷2=1

So, answer is 14423141.

Now we will see some different number division: –

1.) 48÷3= 16

4÷3=1 Here 4 is bigger than 3 ,so 3×1=3

4-3= 1, so quotient is 1 and remainder is 1.

Next take 8 with remainder is 1, it will be 18.

Now 18÷3=6, quotient is 6

So, answer is 16.

2)  93÷7= 13.2

9÷7=1 Here 9 is bigger than 7, so 7×1=7

9-7=2 so quotient is 1 and remainder is 2

Next take 3 with remainder is 2, it will be 23. It will be 23

23÷7= 23 is not in table 0f 3, so we take smaller number than 23 in the table of 7 that is 21

7×3=21,

23-21=2 so quotient is 3 and remainder is 2

Here 2 is smaller than 3 so for further step we put decimal sine (.) to add ten’s in 2 it will be 20.

20÷7=2 20 is not in the table of 3, so we take smaller number than 20 in the table of 7 that is 14

7×4=14,

20-14=6, so quotient is 2 and remainder is 6

We want answer in three digits

quotient is 13.2 and remainder is 6

3)   182÷21=8.66

21 divisor is of two digits so we will consider first two digits of dividend. But 21 is big figure than 18 so we will consider three digits that is 182.

182 is not in the table of 21, so smaller number than 182 in the table is 168

21×8=168

182-168=14 so quotient is 8 and remainder is 14

14 is smaller than 21 and there is no number to take with 14

So put decimal sine (.) after 8 that is quotient and take 0 with 14that is 140 for further step

140 is not in the table of 21 will take smaller number that is 126

21×6=126

140-126=14 so quotient is 8 and remainder is 14

Again, smaller than 21 and there is no number to take with 14,

take 0 with 14that is 140 for further step

140 is not in the table of 21 will take smaller number that is 126

21×6=126

140-126=14 so quotient is 8 and remainder is 14

We want answer in three digits

quotient is 8.66 and remainder is 14.

Exercise: –

1.) 74÷41 2) 9872÷63
