Difference between Soluble substances and insoluble substances
Soluble substances |
Insoluble substances |
When an solute is completely dissolvable in the solvent to form an solution then the solute or Substances is Called soluble substances. | When an solute or Substance is not dissolvable into the solvent to form the solution then the substance is called insoluble substances. |
The ability of solute to completely dissolved in to the solvent is known As solubility. | The ability of solute to incompletely dissolved in the solvent is known As insolubility. |
Soluble substances dissolves in the Water to a significant extent. | Insoluble substances does not dissolve in the Water to the significant extent. |
Solubility depends upon the polarity of the substance. | Insolubility Dependent over the non – polarity. |
“like dissolves like”
polar dissolved in polar solvents. Non- polar dissolved in Non – polar Solvents. |
“ like does not dissolve in unlike”
Thus , non polar cannot dissolved into polar and it becomes Insoluble. |
More polar substances more Soluble in Polar solvent. | More non – polar Substances More insoluble in the polar solvents. |
The polar substances can only be dissolved in the polar solvents. These is called soluble mixture. | The Non – polar Substances is insoluble in the Polar solvent is called insoluble mixture. |
Soluble substances form an homogenous solution. | Insoluble substances form an heterogeneous solution. Which is not completely dissolved. |
The homogenously soluble mixture are hard to separate. | Insoluble mixture are easy to separate. |
Examples for the soluble substances are –
Alcohol in water , sugar in water , salt in water Etc. |
Examples For insoluble substances are –
Sand in water, dust in water, oil in water etc. |
