1. A section between the stomach and large intestine as well as a section of intestine is referred as small intestine. A terminal part of the intestine and the shorter as well as wider when compared to small intestine is referred as a Large intestine.
2. Wall of the small intestine is smooth. Wall of the large intestine is sacculated.
3. Small intestine takes part in the digestion. Large intestine is not included in the digestion.
4. Small intestine has three components and are duodenum, jejunum and ileum. Large intestine has four components and are cecum, colon, rectum, and anal canal.
5. Small intestine consists circular folds and villi which are present in the internal surface. Large intestine does not consists circular folds and villi in the internal surface.
6. Secretion of hormones takes place in the small intestine. Secretion of hormones does not takes place in the large intestine.
7. Small intestine does not contain haustra. Large intestine contains haustra.
