Difference between Radio wave and microwave
In simple words electromagnetic wave is a combination of electic and magnetic field. The electromagnetic waves are defined as the flow of energy by the speed of light through free space in the form of the electric and magnetic fields that make up electromagnetic waves. In electromagnetic wave the time varying electric and magnetic fields are mutually linked with each other at right angles and perpendicular to the direction of motion. An electromagnetic wave is characterized by its intensity and the frequency of the time variation of the electric and magnetic fields. Radio wave and micro wave are the types of electromagnetic wave. Microwaves are directional they are propagte in one direction at a time. Radiowaves are multidirectional they spread over all direction from the source. Radio waves are created by the acceleration of electron produced in the radio antenna. Microwaves are the subclass of radiowaves. Both radio waves and micro waves has many application. The difference between radio waves and microwaves is as follows.
Radio Wave | Microwave |
1) Radio waves are created by the acceleration of electron produced in the radio antenna.
2) Radio waves have low frequency and low energy. 3) Radio waves are multidirectional they spread over all direction from the source. 4) The frequency of radio waves can take values from 300 GHz to 3 kHz. 5) Radio wave have application in FM, AM and in communication systems.

1) Micro waves are subpart of the radio waves and similarly it is created by the acceleration of electron produced in the radio antenna.
2) Micro waves having a high frequency and high energy. 3) Microwaves are unidirectional they are propagte in one direction at a time. 4) The frequency of micro waves can take values from 300 GHz to only 300 MHz 5) Micro wave have application in microwave oven, Radar system, etc. |
