1. The very first organisms or first eukaryotes on the earth, which can be unicellular, multicellular, mostly aquatic organisms, autotrophic or heterotrophic, live in moist environment are referred as Protists. Unicellular or multicellular eukaryotes with chitinous cell wall, absorptive nutrition and stores energy as a glycogen is referred as fungi.
2. These are mostly single celled organisms. These are mostly multicellular organisms.
3. Protists can be autotrophic, heterotrophic, parasitic or saprophytic. Fungi can be heterotrophs.
4. Protists contains three types and are protozoans, algae and molds. Fungi contains total seven phyla.
5. Asexual reproduction in Protists takes place through binary fission. Asexual reproduction in fungi takes place through spores.
6. Sexual reproduction in Protists takes place through production of gametes. Sexual reproduction in fungi takes place through mating.
7. Some of Protists contain cell wall. All fungi contains cell wall which is made up chitin.
8. Examples of Protists are Amoeba, Green algae and Euglena etc. Examples of fungi are Eomycota, Pichia and Yeast etc.
