Difference between Positive and negative work
Positive work
1.) Work is the defined as the product of force in to displacement.
Work,W=force × dispacement
∴ W = f s
2.) When the displacement produced is along the same direction of applied force, the work is said to be positive work.
3.) When force is applied on a wooden plank kept on plane and horizontal surface which displaced by certain value along the direction of applied force, as shown in fig.
Negative work
1.) Work is the defined as the product of force in to displacement.
Work, W = force × dispacement
∴ W = f s
2.) When the displacement produced is along the opposite direction of applied force, the work is said to be negative work.
3.) When brake of car of any running vehicles are applied instantly, the passengers in the vehicles feel the jerk against the direction of applied brakes, this is an example of negative work.
