Difference between Paramagnetic and ferromagnetic substances
Difference between Paramagnetic and ferromagnetic substances are in tabular form below –
Paramagnetic |
Ferromagnetic |
1) A substance which are weakly attraction by a magnet are called paramagnetic substance. | A substance which are strongly attracted by a magnet are called paramagnetic substance. |
2) Paramagnetic material lose their magnetism on removal of the external field and hence cannot be used to make permanent magnets. | ferromagnetic material remain thir magnetism on removal of the external field and hence can be used to make permanent magnet. |
3) The sustebillity is positive and small | the sustebillity is positive and high. |
4) In the absence of external magnetic field, the net dipole moment is zero. | in the absence of external magnetic field, the net dipole moment is not-zero. |
5) Magnetic permeability is slightly more than one. | magnetic properties is for greater than one. |
6) These substance obey curle low Χα ⊥/ Tc | these substance obey curie Weiss low χα ⊥/T- Tc |
7) These do not exhibit the properties like magnetos friction | these substance exhibit the properties like magnostiction and hysterels. |
8) Magnetic suceptillity is very low but talks positive value (10^6 to 10^9) | magnetic susceptibility is very large (10 to 10^6) |
9) Paramagnetic substance may be solid, liquid or gas. | ferromagnetic substance Are only solid. |
10) The density of the line of induction is Not soLarger than that of the line of magnetic intensity. | the density of the line of induction is larger than the density of the lines of magnetic intensity. |
11) With a rise temperature a paramagnetic substance becomes a dimagnetic. | if A temperature is above curie point a ferromagnetic substance become a paramagnetic. |
12) Their permiablity is slightly greater than one
(μ>1) |
their permeability is much greater than one (μ>>1) |
13) In these substance the magnetic lines of force are closer than in air. | In these substance the magnetic lines of force is much more closer than air. |
14) Examples of paramagnetic substances are :- platinum, aluminium, chromium, sodium and nickel, magnese. | Examples of ferromagnetic substances are :- Iron, Nickel, Cobalt |
