Difference between Middle and Inner ear
Middle ear
1.) Portion of ear starts from auditory canal and up eardrum is termed as Middle ear.
2.) Human middle ear contains three bones known as ossicles.
3.) Ossicles transfer the vibrations of the eardrum into membranes of the inner ear.
4.) The middle ear is hollow.
5.) The hollow space of the middle ear is also known as the tympanic cavity.
6.) The auditory tube joins the tympanic cavity with the nasal cavity which allows pressure to equalize between the middle ear and throat.
7.) Basic function of middle ear is to transfer acoustic energy from sound wave i.e. compression and rarefaction in air to the cochlea.
Inner ear
1.) Portion of ear from inner side of eardrum is termed as inner ear.
2.) Inner ear has one important function to detect the sound waves and convert it in the form of electric pulses.
3.) It consists of the bony labyrinth has three different parts that are the vestibule of the ear, the semicircular canals, and the cochlea.
4.) Cochlea receives the vibrational energy and converts it in to electric pulses.
5.) The auditory nerves use these signals from cochlea and sends to brain.
6.) Brain detects the frequency or wavelength of signals and tells us what we heard.
