Difference between Meter bridge and Potentiometer
In the meter bridge is also know as slide wire bridge. It is an apparatus used in laboratories to find the resistance of a metal coil. In the meter bridge experiment we use the wheat bridge experiment to determine the resistance of an unknown conductor or to make a comparison between two unknown resistors. Potentiometer helps us to provide a variable resistance so, a variable potential difference arising between two points in an electric circuit. Potentiometer is three-terminal resistor device with an adjustable arm which is useful for increases or decrease the resistance in the loop. The potentiometer gives accurate measurement of the voltage. It does not pass the current at the time current is being taken. The potentiometer is also known as pot meter. The difference between Meter bridge and potentiometer is as follows:
Meter bridge |
Potentiometer |
1) The meter bridge is an electric circuit which is used to measure the electrical resistance of a circuit.
2) The meter bridge is based on the Wheatstone bridge. 3) The meter bridge is used for determining the unknown resistance. 4) The meter bridge dont have an adjustable arm which is useful for increase or decrease resistance in the loop. 5) The meter bridge have an jockey. |
1) A potentiometer is an electric device which is used to regulate EMF and internal resistance of a given cell.
2) The potentiometer is based on the potential balance. 3) The potentiometer is used for determining the emf of the cell. 4) Potentiometer has an adjustable arm which is useful for increases or decrease the resistance in the loop. 5) Potentiometer dont have an jockey.
