Difference between Image formation of convex and concave lens

Difference between Image formation of convex and concave lens

Image formation of convex lens

1) When object kept at different position in front convex lens real, inverted, erected, virtual images can be formed.

2) When object is placed at infinity in front of convex mirror, image formed at focus which is real and inverted image.

3) When object is placed beyond the convex lens, the real and inverted image is formed which is of small size of object.

4) If object is kept at centre of curvature of lens, the image is also formed at centre of curvature. This image is real and inverted and of same size.

5) When object is place between focus and optical centre of lens, then the image of object formed behind the lens. This image is virtual and erected, and highly magnified also.

Image formation of concave lens

1) When object kept at different position in front concave lens, it always produces virtual and erected image.

2) If object is kept at infinity in front of concave lens, image is formed at focus on the same side of object. This image is virtual, erected and point image.

3) If object is kept at different positions in front of concave lens, the image is formed between focus and optical centre, refer the following diagram.
