Difference between Concave and Convex mirror
Concave mirror
1) The spherical mirror in which the internally bulged surface is reflecting is known as concave mirror.
2) The typical concave mirror is shown in fig. below.
3) Concave mirror collects all the reflected rays at the same point on its principal axis, known as convergence of reflected rays.
4) The point of concurrence of reflected rays by concave mirror is called as Focus of mirror.
5) When an object is kept in front of concave mirrors, it produces real, inverted image of object.
6) Concave mirrors are very useful for dentist to diagnose the dental problems of person.
7) Concave mirrors are used in solar cooker which helps to collect the solar radiation at a same point, due to which food can be made faster.
8) Flood mirrors, shaving mirrors, headlights in vehicles, torches also uses concave mirrors.
Convex mirror
1) The spherical mirror in which the externally bulged surface is reflecting is known as convex mirror.
2) The typical concave mirror is shown in fig. below.
3) Convex mirror splits all the reflected rays from the same point on its principal axis, known as divergence of reflected rays.
4) The point of concurrence of reflected rays by convex mirror is called as Focus of mirror.
5) When an object is kept in front of convex mirrors, virtual and erect image of object.
6) Convex mirrors are used to see the passage of road and vehicles running behind our vehicles.
7) Convex mirrors are also used in the CCTV to increase the view of surveillance.
