1. Animal cell do not contain Cell wall. All the living cells contain cell membrane.
2. Cell wall is completely permeable. Plasma membrane is selectively permeable.
3. Cell wall is the outermost layer and mainly found in archaea, fungi, plant cells and bacteria. Plasma membrane is the outermost layer and mainly found in both plant and animal cell.
4. Cell wall gives strength to the cell and protection to the cell. Plasma membrane helps to control passage of material in and out of the cell, Also it helps to hold cellular content.
5. A non-living and rigid outer covering of the plant cell is referred as Cell wall. An elastic, thin and delicate living membrane is referred as Plasma membrane.
6. Cell wall mainly contains cellulose Or Cell wall is mainly composed of cellulose. Plasma membrane mainly contains proteins and lipids Or Plasma membrane is mainly composed of proteins and lipids.
7. Cell wall is elastic. Plasma membrane is not elastic.
