Difference between boiling and melting
Boiling |
Melting |
The process in which liquid is gets converted into gaseous state is called boiling. | The process in which the solid gets converted into the liquid is called melting. |
In the process of Boiling liquid changes into gaseous state. | In the process of melting solid state get converted into liquid. |
Boiling leads to bubble formation in the liquid. | There is no bubble formation. |
Boiling is slow process . But it is dependent over the heating source. | It is a slow process than boiling because it occurs generally on room temperature |
The temperature of the liquid does not reduced in boiling it remains constant. | While the solid state changes into liquid state the temperaturemay increase. |
Boiling is the process which continues till the internal and external temperature remains equal. | Melting continue till the substance totally melts if the external temperature remains unchanged. |
Boiling occurs after the Evaporation of liquid starts. | Melting starts when temperature increases from the freezing point of solid. |
Boiling need a strong heating source like lamp, stove etc. | Melting need Mostlyan room temperature. Some solids may needs more heat to melt. |
Example for boiling – water has the boiling point 100°c . It starts boiling when we place it over the stove. | Example for melting –cube Of ice melts at + 0°c. As the temperature increases from 0°c the ice cube starts melting. |
