Difference between Accelerated motion and free fall

Difference between Accelerated motion and free fall

Accelerated motion

1) Motion of object in influence of external force is said to be accelerated motion.

2) Initial velocity may or may not be zero.

3) Acceleration is due to external forces, hence it can be positive acceleration negative acceleration or zero acceleration.

4) The equations of motion which as used to find the parameters like initial velocity, final velocity, acceleration, displacement are given as,

4) Accelerated motion helps object to resist the change in inertia of motion

5) Moon doesn’t falls on earth though its mass is very small as compared to earth because moon is rotating about itself, said to be in accelerated motion.

6) Speed of object can increase decreases or remains constant.

Free fall

1) Motion of object in influence of gravitational force only is said to be in free fall.

2) Initial velocity of object is always zero.

3) Acceleration is due to gravitational force only, i.e. acceleration due to gravity ‘g’.

4) The equations of motion which as used to find the parameters like initial velocity, final velocity, acceleration, displacement are given as,

5) This acceleration pulls the object towards the centre of earth with increasing speed always.

6) Ripe fruit falls from tree on earth is an example of free fall.

7) Perfect free fall can possible in vacuum only, since there is resistance of air in atmosphere.
