Sunday mornings of my childhood

Sunday mornings have always been a delightful day for all of us whether we agree or not. When I was a kid, I used to wake up late, most probably at 9am on Sundays to enjoy my sleep to the fullest as I never liked waking up early in the morning for school.

My morning always felt very fulfilled especially on Sundays as my sleep cycle would be completed by 9am. Upon waking , the first thing I did was to open the window and look at the chirping birds outside on the mango tree that my grandpa planted years ago. In summers, the tree would give us a lot of mangoes for pickles and ripened ones to eat. After that , I would do my morning prayer and directly go down to look what mom made for the breakfast. Each Sunday we had a special menu for breakfast such as pasta, noodles, samosa or any other fast food which were not allowed on other days as mom thinks they’re bad for health. Upon having breakfast we would sit down and watch cartoons the whole afternoon and I would watch Noddy specially as it was my favourite of all. By 2pm , mom would call again for lunch and we all gather to eat with our whole family. Me, my sister, mother , father and grandma would sit together on ground to eat our food the traditional style to continue the culture. By the evening time , I would gather my friends to play in the community park untill the sunset. We would play tree – tree, I -spy and much more old games which would make us happy. We would be rushed to our homes once the sun would set .

I always loved Sunday mornings when I was a kid because of all the perks and joyful things we used to do. Our family used to gather and have happy times to make the Sunday even more special.
