(a) 1 (b) 2

(c) 3 (d) 4.

Ans: – option (c).

2) Fill in the blanks

(i) Coal and petroleum are ………fossils ……….fuels.

(ii) During formation of coal, …latent heat……….. is formed in the first stage and ………heat accumulation………..isformed in the last stage.

(iii) The least carbon content is found in …………pit……………… type of coal.

(iv) Fractional distillation is carried out when there is a very small difference in the……. temperature……………………. of liquids in the mixture.

(v) Petroleum is a combination of two words – ………Petra………………. and ………..oleum………………….

3) How are fossil fuels formed?

Ans: – Today’s in our daily usages for traveling and transportation we most of time used the petroleum or diesel which came from the fossil fuels. The fossil fuel is made up dumping of plant and animal body through millions of years and become the source of it. And after finding the resources we extracted the important substance from it.

4) Describe the different types of coal in detail.

Ans: – The different types of coal which present in the earth are anthracite, bituminous, lignite, peat. This coal is used as a source of fuel. This coal is different amount of concentration of coal in anthracite there are 86 to 96 percentage of carbon is present which is high for the others and peat has the low concentration of carbon.

5) Describe the environmental effects of the excessive use of fossil fuels.

Ans: – The excessive uses of fossil fuel damage our environment in different way like the air pollution, water pollution, soil erosion etc. The air pollution is the most dangerous in our daily life. Different types of toxic gas which liberated from the different vehicle as well as the thermal power station. The oil splitting from the container ship sometimes makes the damage in the sea water.

6) The conservation of fossil fuels is a big necessity. Explain.

Ans: – The fossils fuel is sometimes dangerous for our environment also our health as the various toxic gas is liberated from the different vehicles which uses this fossils fuels. So, we need to develop our technology for the various types in the environment. Like to reduce the release of this harmful particles from this.

7) What products are obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum? What are their uses?

Ans: – The fractional distillation is used for the extraction of different types of petroleum product such as petrol, diesel, naphtha, kerosene, lubricating oil which are used for the different purpose. This different product has different boiling temperature by which these are eliminated from the frictional distillation. As we all know in fractional distillation the various substance is eliminated by the different types of temperature.
