Ans – Sudha always explained the Bhava (emotion), Raga (melody), and Tala (rhythm) of Bharatanatyam before her performances.
(iii) How did Sudha lose her leg ?
Ans – One day Sudha was injured in a road accident about 25 killometers from Tiruchirapali, Tamil Nadu, where the family had gone for their annual pilgrimage. But she was not treated well at the local hospital and then she was taken to Chennai for better treatment, the doctors there tried hard to stop the growth of the infection but finally they were forced to amputed her right leg from about eight centimeters below the knee. this is how, Sudha lost her leg.
(iv) Why did Sudha say “My dream will come true” when she met Dr. Pramod?
Ans – Sudha said that her dream would come true when she met Dr. Pramod because, Dr. Pramod had won the Magsaysay Award for his development of the ‘Jaipur Foot’ an artificial limb made from vulcanized rubber filled with sponge. So, Sudha acquired a ‘Jaipur Foot’ and begun her determined journey back to the world of Bharatanatyam.
(v) What was the turning point in Sudha’s life ?
Ans – On 27,1982,Sudha gave a Gurudakshina (a traditional thanks giving recital) at the residence of her guru, it was the turning point in Sudha’s life.
(vi) Sudha Chandran says towards the end of the lesson, “I do feel thrilled”. Identify why she feels so ?
Ans – When Sudha’s Indian fans wrote to her in the thousands after release of her films that they were inspired by her story and that it had given them new hope,she felt thrilled that her message has got across.
(vii) How did Sudha get the opportunity to act in films?
Ans – Sudha’s amazing success story impressed a Hydrabad film producer and he decided to make a Telugu film not just based on her her story but with her in the main lead. Mayuri’s success encouraged him to dub the film in Tamil and Malayalam and remake it in Hindi as ‘Nach Mayuri’. Thus she got opportunity to act in flims and became a filmstar.
