Chhattisgarh State Board Class 6 Geography Chapter 3 Motions of The Earth Exercise Answer the following questions, Tick the correct answers, Fill in the blanks here.
1.) Answer the following questions briefly.
(a) What is the angle of inclination of the earth’s axis with its orbital plane?
ANS:
The angle of inclination of the earth’s axis with its orbital plane is 66½°.
(b) Define rotation and revolution.
ANS:
Rotation:
Movement of a body about itself is called as Rotation.
E.g. Earth rotates about its axis.
Revolution:
Movement of body or objects around a different body or object in a fix path.
E.g. Earth revolves around the sun.

i) In summer solstice, the rays of sun falls on the north of equator, hence summer season occur in northern hemisphere.
ii) The rays of sun not easily falls on the south of equator, hence winter season occur in southern hemisphere.
(g) Why do the poles experience about six months day and six months night?
ANS:
i) In pole region, due to earth rotation and revolution the one (1) pole always gets heat and another pole does not getting heat.
ii) The earth revolution takes one (1) year for rotation around sun. For this reason the poles experience about six months day and six months night.
