Chhattisgarh State Class 10 Science Chapter 7 Solution

1) Choose the right option

(i) The internal wall of the stomach is usually not injured by HCl because of-

(a) Pepsin (b) mucous (c) salivary amylase (d) none of these.

Ans: – (b) mucous.

(ii) Gaseous exchange occurs during respiration between-

a) respiratory and digestive tract

 (b) alveoli of lungs and surrounding capillaries

(c) air alveoli and respiratory tubes

(d) respiratory tube and pharynx.

Ans: – (b)

(iii) Oxygenated blood flows from lungs to heart by-

(a) pulmonary artery (b) pulmonary vein

(c) pharynx (d) none of .

Ans: –  (b) pulmonary vein.

(iv) Kidney is composed of several-

(a) nephron (b) Bowman’s capsule

(c) ureter (d) urinary bladder.

Ans: – (a) nephron.

2) How is a vein different from an artery?

Ans: –  The main difference between the artery and vein is artery transfer the oxygenated blood but vein transfer deoxygenated blood. Artery transfer the blood from heart to the other part of the body but vein do its reverse.

3) Differentiate between respiration in the presence and absence of oxygen.

Ans: – The respiration which happens in the presence of oxygen is known as aerobic respiration and the respiration which happens in the absence of oxygen is known as anaerobic respiration. The human being participates in the aerobic respiration but sometimes some muscle in our body takes parts in anaerobic respiration.

4) What are the differences between the sources of energy of producers and consumer? Clarify this.

Ans: – As we all know the main source of energy in the earth is the sun and from the sun rays the different organisms and plant takes to follow the photosynthesis and this way the energy is produced in producers. After that this energy is transformed to the consumer after taking it through the respiration.

5) What is the mutual relationship of animals and plants on the basis of food?

Ans: – The mutual relationship between the animal and the plant are co related. The decompose, ground water and the sun light is the main source of energy in the plant and the animal take this plant or the insect which is dependent on this plant and by after the respiration process the animal produce energy in their body.

6) Why is formation of urine and its removal necessary for plants?

Ans: – The urine in a body is the excretion material which produces by the different activity of the cell which must be removed out from the body. If the urine doesn’t remove from the body the various substance present in that creates a problem in plants as the unwanted material are them.

7) What is the difference between substances transported by xylem and phloem?

Ans: –

Xylem

Phloem

Carry the water and minerals from the underground to the leaves. The different material transfer from the leaves to the different part of the body.
It works against the gravitation. It works is known as translocation.

 8) What is the function of HCl secreted in the stomach?

Ans: –  The hydrochloride acids secretion in the stomach helps for the digestion. The different food particles present in our stomach splited up specially the protein particles. But if for many times the food not present in our stomach this HCl affect the mucous wall.

9) Cover some branches of a plant with polythene and tie it up. After about 3-4 hours measure the volume of water collected in it. Can you give an estimate of the total water loss by the plant? Justify your answer.

Ans: – When we cover the branches with a polythene the air passes from the plastic bag but the water doesn’t because the evaporated air came back to the plant this process is known as transpiration. The water would not evaporate to the air because of the cover but air does.

10) Several experiments on transpiration are conducted in agriculture. One such example is given here,4 leaves of an arhar plant were coated with Vaseline. Observe the table and answer the following questions-

Table: Reduction of weight of leaves due to transpiration.

Surface on which vaseline was applied      Loss of weight

1) None of the surfaces.40%

2) Both surfaces.                                                   2%

3) Upper surface 36%

4) Lower surface.                                                    4%

  • Maximum transpiration took place from which surface of the leaf?
  • Which surface do you think has the maximum number of stomata?
  • What happens when a large amount of water is lost from a plant?
  • How will a plant be affected if water fails to move out of it?

Ans: –

  • The maximum transpiration took place in the lower surface of the leaf.
  • The lower surface has the maximum number of stomata.
  • There will be shortage of water in the cell of the plants and this water shortage made it dry in mostly summer days.
  • The mineral which the plant get from the ground for photosynthesis would not be happen so it will be died in few days.

11) Explain how blood flows in two pathways from the heart?

Ans:
