1.) Why do you think all the boys in both teams followed Ashok Rathod?

Answer: Ashok started OSCAR foundation for football enthusiasts from slum areas and everyone followed him. It was Ashok because of whom many got the chance to play the game and follow their passion without missing their school.

 

2.) Give a brief sketch of how a person (in the lesson) realized the mistake he made in his life and how he corrected it.

Answer: Anil Chauhan was a school dropout from Ambedkar Nagar. Then he started working as a housekeeper in a bank. He could not even know howto write and sign. He then realized his mistake and then to correct it he enrolled himself at a night school . At the age of 22 he studies in class five and this really matter to him. He wants to follow his passion with education.

 

3.) What did the students do after they dropped out from the municipal school?

Answer: Many boys from the slum areas were dropped out from the municipal school. Some would go in the interval and never go back in the school. Te students used to hang out at the nearby Sasson Docks Mumbai’s biggest fish market where they would steal or pick up fish that had fallen from baskets, to sell and make easy money. Even many boys would squander ill gotten profits on drink, cigarettes and gambling. The students went in the wrong direction when they were dropped out from the municipal school.

 

4.) What made Ashok form the OSCAR group?

Answer: In 2006 Ashok got a job with Magic Bus,a Mumbai NGO. He was sent to the city’s poorer areas to mentor children. There he realized how sports can have a positive effect on the development of the children. Team-sports especially football forged friendships and inculcated discipline in the children. He then thought to start a group where children would come and play but without missing their school. In October 2006, he started his group called OSCAR

 

5.) “It was scary”. What was scary in the whole episode?

Answer: Ashok faced many difficulties after starting his group. His intentions were pure and he in fact didn’t let anyone miss their class. But some parents would let their children go to play then he would to them and convince them. And when some of them failed in their exams the parents blamed Ashok. Some of the parents gathered out of his house and shouted abuse at him. This whole situation made him feel scary.
